We know that sponge is a solid ,we also know that solid cannot be compressed. But we are able to compress sponge.How?

A sponge has minute holes ,in which air is trapped, when we press it , the air is expelled out and we are able to compress it.

If you go deep down( not literally) you'll see the sponge also is infact incompressible.

The reason why we're are able squeeze( compress) sponge is because it has lots and lots of tiny pores inside which store air( or water maybe).

So, thats the answer : We can compress sponge because it has air cavities inside.
