We know that the current in a series circuit remains the same throughout the circuit. Then what is the point to put resistors in a series circuit as the original current will pass through each one and the function of a resistor is to obstruct the flow of current?

Resistors create a potential difference across themselves that initiates the current to flow. If there is no resistor, everywhere on the wire will be of same potential, and thus no current can flow through them.
