Answer:

Sodium Hydroxide is too caustic and not easily buffered. It is very soluble in water and Associate almost completely (a very strong base). It cannot be made into chewable tablet and would cause chemical burns in the mouth and throat. It has a low solubility and dissociation constant making it a weak base.

Answer:

yes, you are right for neutralizing the extra acid produced in our stomach, we use bases such as Magnesium hydroxide or Sodium bicarbonate....

You have asked that why sodium hydroxide can't be used for neutralizing the extra acid in our stomach....

well you are right. after all it is also a base ....

let's know why it is not used as an antacid...

As we know that sodium hydroxide is a very strong base with pH 14 ... It is highly corrosive in nature ..

If we will come in contact with it, then it will burn our skin and will cause severe harm to us...

think yourself...

if it can cause so severe harm to us externally then what will happen when it will go In our stomach??

Our stomach will get damaged completely...

Hence, due to its highly corrosive nature, sodium hydroxide is not used as an antacid...

That's why some mild bases such as Magnesium hydroxide or sodium hydrogen carbonate instead of strong bases....

hope it helps you....
