You travel back to the past and you change it. Whatever happens afterwards is similar to actually having a new world being created as a consequence of your changes. You’re not changing your present in world A, you’re going back to the past of world A, make some changes and then travel to the present of world A’, which is what your changes have made possible.

What happens to world A? Mostly likely nothing, it continues to exist, exactly as it was, except for your absence, which will likely be accounted for as one of those rare occurrences of spontaneous combustion.
