It is the rule of nature that we as human beings realize the importance of of someone or something when that thing is gone.
Explanation:
- At the time we don't take that thing into consideration and take it for granted.
- The reason is maybe we don't know the fears of losing that precious thing.
- Once it is gone it won't come back and that will make us realize its worth.
- So we should enjoy the small thing as we will realize it someday that they were the bigger things.

Answer:
It's human nature. We humans never get satisfied with what we have. We don't try to look into the small things and important people (people who love us) and when they leave we realise that they were here fulfilling our needs and suddenly when those needs stop being fulfilled we start noticing their absence. That absence make us think about their presence and their importance in our lives.
So it's simple, our needs which stop being fulfilled when they are gone are realized when they leave and then their importance is realized.
