It's southern neighbours across the sea consists of two island countries- Sri Lanka and Maldives. It's standard meridian is 82 degree 30' (minutes ) at Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh.
It is bounded by Young Fold mountains or Himalayas north, northwest, northeast. In south tapers and extends towards Indian Ocean,it's division -Arabian Sea and Bay of Bengal.In 2005 it's population was 1104 millions . Land is between latitude 8 degrees 4' and 37degree 6'N
longitude 67 degree 7'E and 97 degree 25'E
