later he was sad because the rain slowly turned into  a hailstorm and destroyed all his crops.

in the end of the story lencho is angry because he thinks that the post master and the other post office officials stole all the money that belonged to him( when actually they were the ones that provided him the money). he believed that they were a bunch of crooks.
