There are two kinds of Interrogative sentences:

  1. Yes or No Questions
  2. Question-word or Wh-Questions

1. Yes or No Questions are the commonest of the questions to which the answer will be Yes, or No, or I do not know.

While asking such a question, the speaker has no idea about the answer to the question. For example,

There can be three possible answers to this question:

  1. Yes, he is.
  2. No, he is not.
  3. I do not know.

2. Question-word Questions or Wh-Questions begin with

(a) Interrogative Pronouns such as, what, who, which, whom and whose.

or

(b) Interrogative Adverbs such as, when, where, why, how, how long, how far, how often, how soon.

or

(c) Interrogative Adjectives such as, what colour, what nationality, which boy, how much money, how many boys.
