Heya! Sry if its too long. Just read it and take only the main points.

Many people these days believe a dress code is the answer to most school problems but, they’re wrong. Schools everywhere are warming up to the idea of dress codes. Like in New Jersey, about 96 percent of schools have dress codes. This needs to stop. Personally I know people who have been through these schools, and all of them hated it!

First of all, just like the one I go to, most schools have no air conditioning. Most dress codes involve long pants for boys so, especially on warm, sunny days they would be sweating like crazy. Also, for girls, almost all dress codes involve skirts. What about in the cold winters? Well, they just go to school with freezing legs. Another thing about skirts, I know several girls that would not be comfortable wearing them. To pay attention in school you would need to be comfortable in what you are wearing (this would be a number one reason for distractions in school).

Another thing is the cost. Dress codes can cause major money issues in some families. A lot of families aren’t able to afford extra clothes for their children. Especially families forced to move near schools with dress codes, how are they supposed to pay for the uniforms? They can’t. This is a serious issue for schools with dress codes.

Another reason why there shouldn’t be dress codes, which I can agree with, is that the kids don’t get to express their style. Every one has their own style. The clothes they wear, or the way they wear their hair, but with dress codes that privilege is taken away. Some people like bright colors or sports stuff but, just face it school uniforms are just clothes in boring colors (like blacks, browns, and grays). Also, without dress codes, you can keep up with the latest fashions or styles.

Some of the disadvantages are

1. Some students are uncomfortable with it

3. Self-expression is denied

Etc.

THE END

Thank u and hope it helps! Yay!
