This leaves the soil exposed and in danger of being eroded by the agents of soil erosion i.e. water, wind, animals. This will lead to soil erosion and washing away of the top layer of soil. From the many types of soil erosion the land will lose its fertility and not be able to give life to any green life. The landscape of the land will also be affected when gully erosion takes place leaving large hollow gullies in the ground.
Another disadvantage of cutting down trees is the way the land will be left bare. The soil will not be able to sustain any green plants and will be a large mass of nothingness. Nothing will grow and this will lead to desertification. Trees are essential in the water cycle. They give out water by transpiring and this ultimately leads to the formation of rain. When the trees are cut down, the water cycle will be distorted and no rain will fall on the area.
