• Cuticle is a protecting layer, it consists of cutin, a waxy, water repellent substance associated with suberin.

• Suberin is found in the cell walls of corky tissue. Safranine is an azo dye commonly used for plant microscopy, specially stain for lignified tissues.

• Safranine fluorescent is a staining technique used to stain the cuticle very nicely.

• This staining is used to detect the plant's cell structures and vascular tissues.
