1) g isn't always considered -ve. That depends upon the given situation. In certain frame of references, gravity aids motion and thus is taken +ve.

2) g is sometimes taken as 10 in some problems. However, conceptually, it is important to note that the value of g changes with change in height/depth.

no. if the body is projected upwards then we will take it negative and if its in the opposite direction we will take it as positive 9.8
and sometimes for no confusion we can take it as 10ms-2
