ast night when I went out for a walk, I came across an old man sitting crouched at the pavement, his body and head partially covered with the torn blanket he had. It was very cold and I was feeling very sorry for this man.
Just as I was about to remove my shawl and give the old man, a car stopped in front of the old man. A young boy alighted and went near the old man. This boy would be studying in college, I thought to myself.
He tapped the old man, spoke to him and handed him a shawl and a packet of food. The old man graciously accepted the food and folded his hands as a thanks gesture and blessed the young boy. This incident touched my heart.
I later came to know that there were a group of young boys who went around the city after nine every night handing out packets of food, water, and clothing if need be to the needy people they found on the streets.
This yeoman service of theirs made me feel happy that the values of our Indian culture have been so well imbibed by these children. May God bless them.
