Weaving as a profession was developed due to cultivation of cotton.

  • At the very beginning of mankind there was no such concept of weaving or cultivation but as humankind succeeded and grew with time the learnt the art of cultivation and with cultivation of cotton came the process of weaving which was then developed and grown as a profession.
  • It was the cultivation of cotton and Silk  that made people learn the art of interlacing and interweaving threads made out of cotton and Silk and form a piece of cloth.
  • Prior to the cultivation there were no means of weaving and clothing hence the covering of the body was majorly done with the help of leaves or carcasses.
  • The cotton or Silk threads were weaved together In form of knitting or Braiding or felting to form a certain piece of cloth which can further be used in making different clothes to cover the body parts.
  • The manufacturing  of  fabric with cotton and Silk allowed them to have a base to cut and sew into a piece of  cloth as per the desired body part that needed to be covered which was major lead to fight the different weather conditions and covering the body from any kind of infection.
  • Even the weaving process is done in different ways to bring artistic touch to the cloth that is being woven. The different ways can be twill, plain weaving or Satin weave which bring in the artistry and make the piece of cloth more decorative.
