Last December, I remember , it was a sunny Sunday and mummy thought it was an ideal day to go for trek. Mummy, Nisha and I packed our small rucksacks and began our trek. We had decided to cross a small forest that was known to have a few of wild animals such as deer, boars, rabbits, etc. left in it.
There flows a sparkling rivulet on the edge of this small forest; our plan was to just walk along the river for a few kilometers and then return home after having been refreshed by the freshness and purity of nature.
We walked along it for some time until the underbrush began to take shape of forest. Nisha and I suggested we should return home. However, mummy insisted to go a little into the forest as she appeared to be enjoying the trek the most. Reluctantly, we agreed. It was so quiet inside the forest. The sunlight could not pierce the thick foliage. The chirpings of the birds were echoing. We had hardly walked just a few hundred meters when we heard rustling of leaves behind us. We knew something was following us. As we turned, we saw a herd of deer staring at us. They were many. Some of them had antlers. We got scared. Fortunately mummy had a high intensity whistle with her that produced shrill sound when blown into. She took it out and blew as hard as she could. The piercing shrill cry of the whistle scared the herd. They disappeared in a jiffy. And we ran back to our house with our hearts thumping frantically.
We did not stop until we had reached home! We narrated the incident to the father! He chided us for daring to go into the forest alone! He also told us the male deer could be very dangerous as they could fatally wound anyone with their sharp antlers. I thanked God for saving us from the disaster that we had willfully gone towards!
