Weight of a body is maximum at the surface of earth. At poles also its value is maximum as compare to the equator

Explanation:

  • Weight of the body is the force exerted by the body on the surface over which it is placed. It acts always perpendicular downwards. It is given as product of mass of the body and acceleration due to gravity

               Weight = Mass * acceleration due to gravity

                  W = m g

  • Mass of any body remains constant as it is the measure of amount of matter contained by the body whereas value of acceleration due to gravity changes as we change the position of the body
  • Value of g is maximum at the surface of earth hence weight of body is also maximum at the surface of the earth. If we compare the value of 'g' on poles and equator then the value of 'g' is maximum at the poles as compare to the equator hence weight of body is maximum at the poles of earth
