Weight of an object in air is 3N and in water is 2 N.
a. Calculate the buoyancy experienced by the object?
b. Which of the following may be the weight of this object in saline water? (1N, 2 N, 3N, 5N)
c. A child says, " when a ship enters from river to sea , it raises upwards". Do you agree with this? Justify your answer.

Answer:

a) mass in air = mg = 3N

mass in water = mg + vdg= 2N

buoyancy = vdg = -1N

b) now density will increase so buoyancy will also increase, so it may be -2N, -3N ,-4N or 5N or more

taking it 2N then weight will be = 3N +(-2) = 1N

c) As sea has more density than river due to more dissolved salt in it. So buoyancy will increase in sea water as it is directly proportional to density of liquid. and buoyancy is also known as upward thrust which will raise ship upward.
