Weight = mass × acceleration due to gravity
W = mg
49 =9.8m
m = 5 kg
Now , weight of an object on moon = 1/6 weight of object on earth
= 49× 1/6 = 8.16666.... (8.2 N)
mass remains constant everywhere.

Weight is the force with which an object is attracted towards the earth.

Therefore W = mass × g

49 = mass × 9.8

mass = 49 / 9.8 = 5kg

Now mass remains constant everywhere.So mass on moon is also 5kg.

Weight on Moon = 1/6 Weight on Earth

Weight on moon = 1/6 × 49 = 8.167N
