In August 2018 , the state of Kerala was devastated by surging floodwater , driving thousands out of their homes and causing many deaths .It was later acknowledged to be a man-made disaster and the main causes were encroachment of rivers , deforestation and rampant construction. Write a letter to the editor of a national daily on how it is our responsibility to respect nature or face its wrath .

In your letter you should :
• Express concern at how our selfishness is leading to loosening of soil, expansion of deserts , reduction of forest cover , etc.
• Suggest ways to respect nature by aiming for sustainable development .
