First of all it cannot be surely said that Robert Frost "regrets" choosing the path.

Robert Frost ended the poem in ambiguity. His "sigh" cannot be interpreted as a sigh of regret or relief. Even today it is a debatable topic.
The"sigh" may be a sigh of relief because even though he had chosen"a less travelled by path" he had been successful as a poet. It can also be interpreted the other way like maybe the poet had difficulties in his personal life or felt that could have done better in some other field.

Hope it helps you.
