Hallock made this statement to acknowledge Jenkins’ compliment that his stories on supernatural themes were exceptionally good and popular among the people. Hillock himself wondered how he could write such wonderful stories on ghosts. He felt he did not specialize in ghost stories; rather they specialized in him.
