Western Context of Secularism :-

1) The western model of secularism believes in mutual extension of state and religion and hence none intervenes into the other.
2) Western Model means liberty of individual and equality between individuals.
3) In western model of secularism, the state strives to maintain an absolute homogeneity among its population. Any display of religious symbolism in public is considered illegal.
4) French version of secularism is an excellent example of western model of secularism.
