PATNA, AUG. 23. Seven children were killed today as the Awadh Express ran over them
hile they were watching a track repair near Chanpattla station in Bettiah district, about 250 km
rom here.
The train, running between Muzaffarpur and Bandra, was about to reach Chanpattla station
hen the children, who were engrossed in watching a machine in operation, came under the
heels of the train, the Chief Public Relations Officer at Gorakhpur, headquarters of the North
fastern Railway, told the reporter on the phone.
The train driver warned the children by blowing the horn but they did not hear it.
