Wha
will be
chloropentane
chlorination?
me.
27. What will be the ratio of 1, 2 and 3 chlorop
if n-pentane is made to undergo chlorin
Assume that reactivity of all H-atoms is sa
(1) 33.33% each.
(2) 16.67% : 33.33% : 50%
(3) 25% : 25% : 50%
(4) 50% : 33.33% : 16.67%

The ratio would be 50% : 33.33% : 16.67%

1) Since the reactivity of H atoms is same, so we can calculate all the possible products and seperate them on the basis of the H-atom.

2) Since there are 6 terminal H-atoms, there will be 6 1-chloro pentane products present.

There are 2 carbon atoms at second positions, so there will be 4 2-chloro pentane products.

There is only one carbon atom at third position, so there will be only 2 3- chloro pentane products.

3) So the ratio becomes: 3:2:1.

And the composition percentage of the total product is 50% : 33.33% : 16.67%.
