Reflection is when light bounces off an object. If the surface is smooth and shiny, like glass, water or polished metal, the light will reflect at the same angle as it hit the surface (specular reflection)
a plane mirror possesses the above quality, and is made by putting a thin layer of silver nitrate or aluminium behind a flat piece of glass; when you place an object in front of a mirror, you see an image of the same object in the mirror
