Whales and Dolphins often come up to the surface. They even release a fountain of water while moving upwards. Why do they do so?

whales and dolphins cannot breathe underwater they have to come out and breathe .they come to the surface and throw out the water that went into their body when they were inside the water.

Whales and dolphins have lungs for respiration but they live in water. for inhaling and exhaling air, the often come to the surface of water. when they exhale , they release of fountain of water.
