The leaf floats on water when dropped, because it is lighter than a fruit, and according to the Buoyancy effect, there is an invisible net kind-of thing on the water surface, which resists if the thing dropped is light but it breaks and the thing drops down. Hence a fruit sinks when dropped but a leaf floats.
