Acquired traits are the one which we accomplish during our lifetime..so these changes don't take place in reproductive cells. It occurs in non-reproductive tissues or cells.


This is the reason why acquired traits are not inherited in the next progeny

For an instance, a rat whose tail is cut by an unexpected accident will not mean that the rats in the upcoming generation will not have tails. They will have tails.

Acquired traits are those you develop during lifetime due to experiences or learning. In such cases the brain remembers previous  experiences  and behaves accordingly in an unconscious  way. They are not inherited as they are not inborn and thus not coded in the DNA
