Answer:

Osmosis is how plants are able to absorb water from soil. The roots of the plant have a higher solute concentration than the surrounding soil, so water flows into the roots. In plants, guard cells are also affected by osmosis. These are cells on the underside of leaves that open and close to allow gas exchange.

osmosis occurs in the root cells

Osmosis is a process in which the water molecules move from a region of higher concentration to a region of lower concentration through a semi-permeable membrane. Generally the concentration of water molecules is higher in soil than inside the root hair cells. Hence, the water flows from the soil into the root hair through the semi-permiable membrane during osmosis.
