There is no hard and fast rule to establish trust with someone or to check someone's trust for you, it's only the hard and difficult times that test loyalty of another person for you. And you need to spend a lot of time with someone to trust them, trust is not established in a day or two, you need time, you need to interact, you need to know what kind of person s/he is and finally, you need to test his/her loyalty for you in hard times or difficulties - if they stand by your side, then they are trustworthy and if not - you know the answer! :)
