8). Boiling & melting point of alcohols increase with increase in number of C-atoms. In the case of branching, boiling point decreases due to decrease in surface area.

a). Ethyl Acetate is formed.

b). Check the attached image.

c). Esterification reaction.

Answer:

For boiling and melting points, keep these points in mind :-

linear versus branched —> higher melting/boiling points due to better stacking and surface area contact.

highly branched vs. branched —> more sphere-like –> better stacking –> higher melting point

highly branched vs. branched  —>more sphere-like –> lower surface area —> lower boiling point.

For your other questions, the reaction is called esterification reaction in which an alcohol and acid combine to give ester

R-OH + R'-COOH ---> R'-COOR

Here the reaction is :

C₂H₅OH+CH₃COOH---> CH₃COOC₂H₅ (ethyl methanoate)

P.S : one reason people don't answer such questions is because there are around 3-4 questions in a single POST, so people tend not to answer such questions... so if you want sure shot answers I would recommend you to ask single questions at a time ;)

Hope this answer helped you :)
