Resistance is used in order to limit the excess flow of current
If you get time then do this practical for better understanding
Take a battery, and take a connecter and a small led bulb
from your nearby electric shop
Then connect the connecter to the battery and then directly attach it to that bulb then you will see the glow of that bulb but then suddenly it will fuse because of the excess current and if resistance is used then get connected to the circuit bulb will glow
