what about a sponge? Is it solid? Even when it can be compressed . why?

No sponge is not solid because we can press it . We can press it because it has hole in which air is filled.....

it is elastic solid...there are 2 types of solid elastic and plastic...
elastic solid bears property called elasticity..like eraser .spring..and sponge too.....they have the property to regain their actual form.....while plastic bears plasticity and cannot regain the same even cannot compressed
