sponge is a porous solid. sponge has minute holes in which air is trapped when we press it the air is expelled out and we are able to compress it. A sponge can be compressed easily but still we count them in solids because they have minute pores in it which are filled with air.

I do this myself

You can also write this :A sponge has minute holes,in which air is trapped, when we press it,the air is expelled out and we are able to compress it.sponge is a porous solid.but in other words the property of compressibility means an object is commpresed and it remains in that compressed shape until we apply force to get it back to its normal position and when we compress sponge it comes back to its original shape automatically in a minute or two.

Sponge though compressible is solid. ... Sponge is a solid state of matter yet it is compressible in nature. This is because of space/Interparticle space between the particles of sponge. So, the sponge can be compressed.

hope it helps u mate
