let \: the \: no. \: be \: x \\  \implies \frac{5 + x}{12 + x}  =  \frac{2}{3} \\ 3(5 + x) = 2(12 + x) \\ 15 + 3x = 24 + 2x \\ 3x - 2x = 24 - 15 \\ x = 9

Let The number be x

So, According to the Question

 \frac{5}{12} Is added to x and Sum of  \frac{5}{12} and x will be Equal to  \frac{2}{3}

\therefore \:  \frac{5}{12}  + x =  \frac{2}{3}

 =  > x =  \frac{2}{3}  -  \frac{5}{12}

 =  > x =  \frac{2 \times 4}{3 \times 4}  -  \frac{5}{12}

 =  > x =  \frac{8}{12}  -  \frac{5}{12}

 =  > x =  \frac{8 - 5}{12}  =  \frac{3}{12}

 =  > x =  \frac{1}{4}

So, \frac{1}{4} added to the numerator and denominator of the fraction \frac{5}{12} to make it equal to \frac{2}{3} .
