. so, thé answer -::-: 1. The stringed instrument is provided with the provision for adjusting the tension of the string. By varying the tension, you can get the desired frequency.

2. As you know, when a wave passes through a medium, some portion of it is absorbed. If the medium is highly absorbing type, the amplitude of the vibrations will be very low.

The strings have different thickness to produce different frequency sound waves.

When a vibrating tuning fork is held over an air column of a given length with its one end closed, the air column produces a loud sound. This is due to the resonance of the air column.

Strings in a guitar are of different thicknesses,each having a different diameter.This is because when different strings of a guitar are plucked,they have a different frequency.Frequency of the air column,in this context,depends on the length of the air column. Thus,due to difference in thickness,different sound is produced.

f=1/2l√T/m

THIS FORMULA REPRESENTS A STRING CAN BE CHANGRED BY CHANGING IT'S LENGTH, BY CHANGING TENSION OF WIRE AND BY USING IT'S THICKNESS.
