Explanation:

Aquatic animals use the oxygen dissolved in water to carry out respiration. Since the amount of dissolved oxygen in water is low as compared to the amount of oxygen in the air, therefore the rate of breathing in aquatic animals is much faster than it is in terrestrial animals. The terrestrial animals use the oxygen of air or atmosphere for breathing and respiration. Thus, a terrestrial animal has an advantage over an aquatic animal in regard to obtaining oxygen for respiration that is surrounded by an oxygen rich atmosphere from where it can take any amount of oxygen.

Aquatic organisms use oxygen dissolved in surrounding water . Since air dissolved in water has fairly low concentration of oxygen , the aquatic organisms have much faster rate of breathing .

Terrestrial organisms take oxygen from

the oxygen-rich atmosphere through

respiratory organs . Hence , they have

much less breathing rate than aquatic

organisms .
