Terrestrial organism obtains oxygen for respiration from the atmosphere where the oxygen content is high, whereas, aquatic organisms obtain oxygen dissolved in the water which is very low when compared to the amount in atmosphere.

Aquatic organisms use oxygen dissolved in surrounding water . Since air dissolved in water has fairly low concentration of oxygen , the aquatic organisms have much faster rate of breathing .
Terrestrial organisms take oxygen from
the oxygen-rich atmosphere through
respiratory organs . Hence , they have
much less breathing rate than aquatic
organisms .
