1. there is very little amount of dissolved oxygen in water while there is plenty of oxygen in air.

2. therefore Terrestrial organisms can breath easily while aquatic organism need a special mechanism for breathing

3. also their rates of breathing is greater than Terrestrial organisms due to low supply of oxygen in water.
