Aquatic organisms have faster breathing rate. This is because of the fact that oxygen is less soluble in water as compared to air. So they have to breathe fast in order to fulfil their oxygen requirements

♤The amount of oxygen dissolved in water is fairly low as compared to the amount of oxygen present in air.

♤ the rate of breathing in aquatic organisms is much faster than that seen in terrestrial organisms.

♤ Fishes take in water through there mouth and force it past the gills where the dissolved oxygen is taken up by the blood.
