The phase voltage is smaller and hence the major insulation required between the winding and earth is smaller.
2. Another advantage of start connected winding with earthed neutral is that the maximum voltage to core is limited to 58% of line voltage, whereas in delta connected, in case of line to earth fault, maximum voltage between winding and core increases to full line voltage.
3. The no. of turns is smaller and hence the amount of insulation required will be smaller.
