Answer:

Gandhiji always thought of ahimsa (non-violence). He was one of the most loved and powerful leaders for the Independence of India. He was a peace-loving human being. He thought that ahimsa is the only key to fight the evil. You may know this famous Hindi quote:

"अगर किसने तुम्हारे गाल पर थप्पड़ मारे, तो तुम दुसरा गाल भी आगे कर लो।"

Translation:

"If anyone slaps you on one of your cheeks, give forward your another cheek."

This quote shows a deep meaning. Gandhiji thought that whatever bad or WORSE circumstances come in your life, don't give up and stay calm. If anyone annoys you, just stay calm and don't lose your temper. One day, that person will surely feel ashamed of his/her own acts. This shows the value of patience. For about 190 years, we struggled from the British. But, we did not gave up and retreat from this war. Many famous revolts happened like:

Great Revolt of 1857, Anglo-Mysore wars, Battle of Buxar and more. But, this made a lot of people to die, and there was no use of doing like these things. Thus, Gandhiji came with an idea of ahimsa (and sateya or truthfulness). He was patient and gathered many followers to his side. He did not fight physically, but he fought mentally with politics. And, at last the Quit India Movement happened, and the British finally lost the war and we won independence in 15th August, 1947.

The concept of Ahimsa must be used in our everyday lives. We should show mercy on others, then we will get respect. Even in this political world, we should use tactics to succeed, but we should not make a person go down, or do any unjust act. Instead, we should be always patient.

There is a famous quote:

"Patience is Virtue (success)".

Hope this helps. Thanks!
