The grandmother in the story " How I taught my grandmother to read " was dependent on her granddaughter to read the story "Kashi Yatre" for her. One day , the granddaughter went for a wedding in the next village . The magazine came as usual but the grandmother was unable to read the story Kashi Yatre from it. When the granddaughter came back, she saw her grandmother sitting very sadly and lonely. She asked the grandmother about what happened to her. The grandmother determined and told that she is dependent on her granddaughter to read and write but now she wants to be independent so that in the granddaughter's absence, she would easily manage to read and write. She determined to read and write Kannada language and set Dusshera as the deadline.
