What affects wave speed?

The density and elastic modulus of the medium in which the wave is traveling. Both of these are susceptible to variations in temperature.

It's important and interesting to note that it is only properties of the medium that affect the speed of the wave. That is why frequency and wavelength are inversely proportional. The speed of all waves is fixed for a given medium. This is counterintuitive to many students. But it makes sense when you think about it. If you play a chord consisting of multiple notes, you hear them all at once. If the speed varied for different waves, then we would hear different notes at different times, rather than all at once.

Hope this helps you friend

the wevelength of wave does not affect the speed at which the wave travels both wavesC and wave D travel at same speed the speed of wave is only a altered by alteration in the properties of the medium through which it travel
