Three fifths compromise refers to 3 free men for a population of 5 slaves.   The agreement stated that For every 5 enslaved people would represent 3 free men out of the total population.   Trade related agreements took place between southern delegates and northern delegates.   This is one of the most comfortable ways of settling the compromise.
