What algebraic identity would you use to solve (502) whole square with working

(502)^2=(500+2)^2

=500^2+2^2+2X500X2

=250000+4+2000

=252004

Here the identity used is (a+b)^2=a^2+b^2+2ab

so the equation becomes:-
(500 + 2) {}^{2} \\ = 250000 + 4 + 2 \times 2 \times 500 \\ =250000 +4+ 2000 \\ = 252004
