Contribution of Buddhism to Indian culture:-

1. Reform of Hinduism:- Buddha's practical and simple doctrine made their impact on

Hinduism. The principle of ahimsa brought change in the performance of costly sacrifices

and yajnas.

2. Education:- Buddhist monasteries developed into great educational centres. Such as

Nalanda, takshila, Vikramshila etc. These universities attracted scholars from many

countries of the world.

3. Development of literature:- after Buddha's death his teachings were collected and compiled into tripitakas.

4. Buddhist art and architecture:- The stupa at Sanchi, Amaravati,the stone pillars of

Ashoka, the cave temple of kanhari, Nashik have given us the best features of Buddhist art and architecture.
