ANSWER :-

There are four types of carbons in the carbon chain,

(i) PRIMARY CARBON :-

A carbon attached to one other carbon atom is termed as Primary carbon (or) 1° Carbon atom

(ii) SECONDARY CARBON :-

A carbon attached to two other carbon atoms is called as Secondary carbon (or) 2° Carbon atom

(iii) TERITIARY CARBON :-

A carbon atom attached to three other carbon atoms is called Teritiary carbon (or) 3° Carbon atom

(iv) QUATERNARY CARBON ATOM :-

A Carbon atom attached to four other carbon atoms is called Quaternary carbon atom (or) 4° carbon atom

Requiredanswer:−

(1) Sulphur

Atomic Number = 16

Number of Neutrons = 16

Number of protons = Atomic number

→ Number of protons = 16

In a Neutral element the number of electrons is equal to the atomic number.

→ Number of electrons in Sulphur = 16

Sum of Number of protons and Neutrons is equal to the mass number.

→ 16 + 16 = Mass number

→ Mass number of sulphur = 32

(2) Argon

Mass number = 40

Number of neutrons = 22.

Sum of Number of protons and Neutrons is equal to the mass number.

→ Number of protons + 22 = 40

→ Number of protons = 40 - 22

→ Number of protons = 18

Number of protons = Atomic number

→ Atomic number = 18

Atomic number = Number of electrons (only when it is neutral)

→ Number of electrons = 18

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

(3) Carbon

Mass number = 12

Number of electrons = 6

Atomic number = Number of electrons (only when it is neutral)

→ Atomic number = 6

Atomic number = Number of protons

→ Number of protons = 6

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

(4) Aluminium

Atomic number = 13

Atomic number = Number of protons

→ Number of protons = 13

Number of neutrons = 14

Sum of Number of protons and Neutrons is equal to the mass number.

→ Mass number = 13 + 14

→ Mass number = 27

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

(5) Silicon

Mass number = 28

Number of electrons = 14

Number of electrons = Atomic number (neutral)

→ Atomic number = 14

Atomic Number = Number of protons

→ Number of protons = 14

Sum of Number of protons and Neutrons is equal to the mass number.

→ 28 = 14 + Number of neutrons

→ Number of neutrons = 14
