What are acid and basic dyes? On what type of fabrics they are applied?

This dye have positive charge & bind to negatively charged molecules(nucleic acid, -COOH -OH). Since, surface of bacterial cells are negatively charged(due to Teichoic acid), basic dyes are most commonly used in bacteriology. Examples: Crystal Violet, Methylene Blue, Safranin , basic fuschin Poplin fabrics plain woven horizontally ribbed fabrics. Poplin fabrics made of Polyester, Cotton, and its blends and the ribs are heavy and prominent as coarse weft yarns are used. Poplin fabrics are used for jackets, raincoats, shirts etc.
