What are acid, base and salt?

Acid = Acids are the compounds which give hydrogen ion in water solution. 

Example : H+ +  Cl-

Base = Bases are the compound which give hydroxide ion in water solution.

Example : K+ + OH-

Salts = Salts are compound obtained by replacement of H from Acid by a metal. 

Example : HCl --> NaCl

ACIDS - an acid is a compound which when dissolved in water yields hydronium ion as the only positively charged ion.

E.g. - HCL

BASES - a base is a compound which when reacts with an hydronium ions of a acid gives salt and water only.

E.g. - Ca(OH)2

SALT - salts are compound which are formed by the complete or partial replacement of the replaceable hydrogen ions of an acid by a metallic ion or ammonium ion.

E.g. NaCl
